Dirty old tires – they’re not much good and hard to get rid of…unless you transform one into this cute storage stool for your backyard or patio. Start by washing down a tire and let it dry. Get 100 feet of rope in your choice of color and start gluing it onto the tire at the line shown. Continue gluing the rope in a tight circle all the way around the tire until you reach the same line on the other side of the tire. Cut a circle of plywood that will fit in the center of the tire, covering the part that does not have rope – about 17 inches in diameter. Apply a circle of strong glue around the top edge of the wood and flip then over the wood, attaching it to the tire. Let it dry and then turn it over so the wood is on the bottom and the open side of the tire faces up. Cut another circle of wood and an equal-sized circle of thick foam and glue the two together. Place it foam-side down on a piece of waterproof fabric and pull the edges up over the wood, stapling it in place all the way around. Trim the excess. Turn the padded wood over and mark where four large buttons will go. Drive a nail down through the foam and into the wood at each mark, creating a tuft. Glue a button over each nail. Place the upholstered circle over the opening of the tire and you’re ready to store your stuff and take a seat!
