Need a table but want to display some plants or books too? Try making this cute – and really useful – spinning storage table out of a discarded cable reel. Take a wooden industrial cable reel and 10 round wooden sticks that have been cut equal to the height of the cable reel. Paint the reel and the sticks the color of your choice. (We like white.) Mark 10 evenly spaced points around the top. These are the locations where your support poles will go. Draw around the base of a stick to make sure the hole is the correct size. Drill a hole through the top and put the stick through it. Mark around the base of the stick on the bottom of the reel and drill a hole there too, just don’t drill all the way through. Put wood glue in the hole and set the base of the stick in it. Repeat with the remaining sticks. Once it is dry, turn the table over, screw on a rotating base, and then put it back right side up. Your table is now ready for you to fill with plants, books or anything else you want to show off.
