Want your often-used spices handy, but also stashed out of view? Repurpose a hinged, lidded box or briefcase into a space-saving spice rack. Start by opening the case and cleaning the inside well. Paint, stain, or otherwise cover the inside of the box as shown. Take two lengths of chain and use a short screw to attach one end in each inside bottom corner of the box. Attach the other end to the inside corners of the lid as shown. The chain should be long enough for the lid to open at a comfortable angle, but not all the way. Finally, screw the lid of the case to the bottom of your upper cupboard and fill it with your favorite spices and herbs. When closed, it’s out of the way, freeing up valuable counter space. When you need your spices, just unclip the box and lower it. So cool!
