Prepare your home for the white season. Winter cleaning tips

Whenever a new season starts to exert its powers this means that it’s time for a serious cleaning. Now winter is here so you’d better start getting your home ready for the cold season. It might not be as fun and exciting as spring cleaning but it’s still an important thing that you have to do. And while you’re cleaning you might as well winterize your home a little as well.

It doesn’t have to be anything complex. A few minor changes would be enough. For example you could start by adding some rugs. It’s not very pleasant to have bare tiles or wood during winter. Consider covering up the areas near the bed or sofa, where you usually walk with bare feet. Also, don’t let the cold weather take over your home. So remove the summer screens and check the seal around the windows and doors. Add some draft stoppers if needed. It’s simple but it makes a big difference.

Then make sure your fireplace is verified by a specialist. Get it ready for winter. Clean the fireplace and get some wood so you won’t have to worry about that when there’s snow outside. This way all you have to do is start the fire and relax in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine in your hand.

And since we were talking about professional cleaning, you might also want to clean the gutter as well. Don’t leave this part for later because all the falling leaves will clog the gutter and this will create leaks. It’s best to have everything clean and ready before the first snowfall. Then, after all that, you can just comfortably sit in your bed or on the sofa and enjoy the warm and cozy atmosphere in your home. Make sure you have blankets and throws strategically placed around the house so you can easily get them without having to get out of bed.

And when you decide to go outside to enjoy the snow and weather, make sure to turn off the water. The outdoor pipes might freeze if it’s very cold outside and it’s difficult to fix the problem. So it’s best to prevent these unpleasant situations.
