Contemporary House in Los Angeles Framed by Beautiful Landscape

We’ve featured a lot of beautiful California houses over the years and this is one of our latest finds. It’s a project recently completed this year by architecture studio Assembledge+ for its founder, David Thompson. The house sits at the foothills of Laurel Canyon in a fairly isolated area which allows it to become more connected to its immediate surroundings. The design is really interesting and there’s a very seamless and organic relationship between the house and the landscape around it. The exterior walls seem to gradually disappear as the indoor areas transition into the garden and patio sections and they also serve as partitions between the various functions.

From a structural point of view, the house is made up of three volumes. The largest one is the social area which has over 50 solar panels on the roof. It houses the kitchen, breakfast room, dining area, family room and lounge, with access to the patio, fire pit and swimming pool areas. Another volume serves as a guest house and the third one contains all the bedroom and private areas. They all share simple and modern interiors defined by white walls, light wooden floors and various bold accent walls and furniture pieces which make each room special.
