A stunning contemporary house in Cape Town by SAOTA

Located in Constantia, Cape Town, South Africa, this beautiful residence was initially a project by Vivid Architects. They were the ones that prepared the interior design for this stunning home. However, the project was completed in 2008 as the result of the collaboration between Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA) and Antoni Associates.

The initial request was to turn this residence from a structure with classical architecture into a contemporary home. The façade of the property has a Georgian-inspired design but with a modern touch given by the dynamic look of the panels and cubes that were used to create the terraces ad courtyards. The entrance is a light-filled space and the hall divides the two ground-floor wings. These areas consist of a series of living space with access to a private courtyard and to the garden.

The interior of the house is very beautiful and luxurious. It features futuristic details, stripped back ceilings and curtains that hide the walls. All the rooms have a clean and simple décor but, at the same time, they feel luxurious and sophisticated. The floating stairs are a beautiful architectural element and an eye-catching feature. In order to add warmth and texture to the mostly white rooms, natural materials such as wood were used throughout. The lighting fixtures are strategically chosen and placed to add drama to the décor.
