Small plants nestled in individual hangers are very popular and you can fashion your own from some regular drinking straws. You will need eight straws cut to 13 centimeters long, and four more that are the full length. Thread thin, flexible wire through four of the short straws and join them together in a square. Thread two of the longer straws onto the wire, forming an inverted “V,” and attach it to two opposite corners of the square. Tie some fishing line to one of the remaining corners, thread a long straw and attach it to the point of the V. Add another straw to the line and tie it to the last corner. Do the same with the remaining straws on the other side of the square. You’ll end up with a diamond shape. Spray the shape with metallic paint, let dry and attach a loop of fishing line to the point made of the longest straws. Hang the cage and place a small potted plant in the bottom. These holders also look fantastic when hung in odd-numbered groups at various heights!
