Rattan is the term we use when referring to some species of palms and the word usually has us thinking to furniture. Rattans are extensively used for making baskets but not only. Other accessories can also be made using this material. Rattan furniture is something everyone is familiar with. Today we’re going to focus on smaller items such as baskets, containers and display pieces.
Rattan is usually used for making furniture and accessories for the outdoors. Among these, planters are quite common. The two look great here, displayed on front of the entrance. They don’t necessarily match the style used on the facade but the fusion of styles is very nice.
This planter is actually a rattan basket which has been re-purposed. The handles makes it easy for someone to move it from place to place. Such a piece could look nice in the garden, surrounded by succulents or flower beds but it can also be displayed on the porch.
Storage containers and baskets.
Rattan baskets or boxes are often used for storage. What makes them so great is the fact that you can use them to organize all your little items and then display them on open shelves. This way you can reach them more easily and you don’t have to hive everything behind closed doors. In addition, you can label them.
Rattan containers are also useful in the kitchen. Store them inside the kitchen island or in the pantry. Use them to store vegetables, fruits, kitchen utensils, towels and anything else that fits in them. Because they have a nice rustic look, they can give your modern kitchen some extra charm.
A lovely rattan fruit basket. The focus is shared between the delicious fruits and the actual basket. This is not just a storage containers, it’s also something you can be proud to display on the dining room table, coffee table or on a side table.
Rattan baskets like this one are very versatile. It can accommodate everything from craft supplies to blankets and beer or juice bottles. Take it outside and place drinks inside when you’re having a gathering or a party.

This piece is a very versatile hamper basket. Use it either as a laundry basket or as an accessory for the entryway. In it you can put all the umbrellas plus other entryway necessities which fit inside.
This rattan tray is something you can find a use for in any room of the house. In the kitchen, you can store and organize spices in it, in the entryway numerous accessories and necessities could be stored in it and so on.

This Moroccan living room uses rattan in two interesting ways. First of all, notice some of the baskets displayed on the wall. Also, there’s that rattan basket which could also double as a seat or as a low side table.
Speaking of multifunctional accessories, these rattan pieces are also wonderful. Here, they replace the coffee table. Their shape and size and allows them to be used as side table but also as stools.
These two are practically the same ones as before but in a different context. Place at the foot of the bed, they’re either two extra seats, two small tables or two baskets in which blankets, linens and clothes can be stored.
