Step inside their steampunk coffee universe and prepare to be impressed. The 600 square meter space is comprised of a 120 seat restaurant, cafe, bar and kitchen but it’s size that gives it the wow factor. It’s inside a turn of the century warehouse which the team of designers stripped back to its bare bones in order to expose the cast iron pillars, the wooden roof and floors. They kept most of the building’s natural, aged patina was kept intact. The team added raw steel, timber, leather, brass and copper features to complement these elements.

The design is centered around a cast iron vintage roaster drum. Steampunk furniture with industrial charm defines the entire space. The bar is simply amazing, with that worn metal finish and those red-seat stools, not to mention the unique light fixtures and the whole array of pipes that give the space its identity.

The fully functional roaster became the defining feature of this space and the designers surrounded it with a circular steel shelving structure with a bit of Victorian charm.

At the front of the cafe you’ll find the longest table in Cape Town. It’s 7.2 meters long and features swing-out stools. It was built of industrial pipes, malleable castings and a reclaimed pine wood top from the building’s stripped out ceilings. A power cable lighting installation that also provides cellphone and laptop charging access is hanging above the table.
