A Stylish Pair Of Modern Cottages Lost Among The Beautiful Canadian Landscape
Two modern cottages, one bigger than the other, sit on a beautiful piece of land surrounded by tall trees and water. This is a project known as Severn Sound Cottage and can be found in Penetanguishene, in Ontario, Canada.
The site has a great view of Georgian Bay which opens up the landscape and creates a breezy and airy ambiance all throughout the cottages and the area around them. This is a project completed by studio Trevor McIvor Architect Inc. and consists of a main cottage and a smaller one, both sharing many design similarities such as the cladding and the framing of the windows.
The two cottages feature a clean and simple aesthetic. They have a contemporary structure and appearance designed most notably by large and flat roofs with deep overhangs. These overhangs create sheltered and protected areas which can function as extensions of the indoor living spaces and being excellent for entertaining and various social activities throughout the seasons.
The simplicity of the exterior design is complemented by an equally simple interior that takes advantage of all the large windows, the beautiful views and the open concept layout. Both cottages are also connected by an outdoor area with lots of natural stone, greenery and a perfect view towards the bay.
