Lemons are obviously a delicious treat and easy ingredient to so many wonderful recipes. But it’s also a fierce and fast natural cleaning solution. Instead of creating recipes for tonight’s dinner and dessert, start using recipes to make your own cleansing remedies and everyday chore helpers. From cleaning grout to making the house smell fresh and new, there are lots of ways to clean and cleanse with lemons. Take a look!
1. Clean grout.
Grab a toothbrush and soak it in lemon juice. Then take it to the tile to clean off all that nasty grout. It’s quick, easy and the lemon will easily dissolve the build up.
2. Clean the garbage disposal.
Peel a lemons and stick them down the garbage disposal. Turn it on and, voila, it’s instantly takes away any nasty odors.
3. Clean the faucets.
Slice a lemon in half and use that as you rag or sponge. Place it directly on your chrome faucets for a clean and shiny finish.
4. Clean the air.
Drop some lemons in a pot of boiling water on the stove. Or, slice some up and place them in a bowl of baking soda in whatever room you need the freshness.
5. Clean food containers.
We all have a hefty stash of plastic food containers. Soak them in a bowl (or in the sink) filled with water and lemon juice to remove stains.
6. Clean countertops.
Lemon juice and water in a spray bottle can do wonders for your laminate counter tops. Whether in the bathroom or the kitchen, spray a bit of this and dry with a paper towel!
7. Clean (and brighten) clothes.
Throw away the bleach and use lemons instead. Brighten dulling whites or remove stains from clothes by using a half of cup of lemon juice in the washing machine.
8. Clean chopping boards.
Remove the gunk and germs from your plastic and wooden chopping boards by rubbing a lemon half directly on it. Yup, it’s really that easy to disinfect!
9. Clean up mold.
Make a paste by mixing lemon juice and table salt. Then, scrub over any moldy, gross surfaces from tiles to counter tops and crevices.
10. Clean grease.
Simply add lemon juice to your dish soap to increase its ability to cut through greasy pots and pans.
11.Clean the toilet.
Use borax and lemon juice to create a fiercely powerful toilet bowl cleaner. And, as always, the lemons make everything smell fantastic!
12.Clean the fridge.
Keep your fridge smelling fresh and clean by keeping a half of a lemon in there. Just place it freely on a plate and change it once a week.
13.Clean your hands.
Did you make dinner tonight using lots of garlic? Well, if you have smelly “kitchen” hands using a mixture of water and lemons (or soap and lemons) to dilute the smell.
14. Clean the drains.
Unclog and freshen the drains by pouring baking soda and then lemon juice down the hole.
15.Clean the mirrors and windows.
All you need is a bit of lemon juice to clean off the windows and mirrors. And, it smells a lot better than Windex does!
