This beautiful cabin up on a hill is a wonderful little retreat, away from the city, the noise and pollution and surrounded only by nature. It’s located in Santiago, Mexico and it has got panoramic views over the forest, all the hilltops and the valley below as well as the majestic mountains in the background. The cabin was designed by ByMura Design Studio and features a mix of modern, rustic and industrial elements. The designers focused on natural house colors and materials which help it establish a harmonious relationship with the nature surrounding it. Raw wood, natural stone and bare concrete are displayed side by side, creating an immersive ambiance both inside and outside of the cabin.

The main focus throughout the project was to showcase all the natural and organic beauty unfolding around the cabin in a way that also takes advantage of the topography and also provides the owners and their guests with a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Part of the design strategy was to separate the public and the private areas. The social zone is where the living room, kitchen and dining area are all connected and part of an open floor plan. They open onto a wooden deck and to the swimming pool. The private area is comprised of three bedrooms, one for the owners, one for the kids and one for guests. All of these spaces shave large windows which connect them to the outdoors and which welcome nature inside.
