Our homes are shelters for our souls. They are specially designed to fit some of our basic human needs: privacy, space, comfort and silence. These are just the perfect words to describe this beautiful apartment located in Eixample, Barcelona.
This marvelous living place has an interesting story, or rather history, considering the fact that the building dates from 1878. Yes, it has over 130 years. You probably wonder how come it looks so…perfect. We have a single word for that: renovation. The final aspect of this apartment was given by Sergi Pons Architects.
Altough bricks may give you the feeling of a cold, empty space, in this case things are different. If we take into account the chromatic aspect, they seem to warm up the atmosphere. Wood is also important regarding this aspect. You will clearly notice the way in which these two materials are interconnected. Now, let’s see what else do we know about this lovely residence.
The pine beams on the ceiling bring a rustic touch. A quite unusual feature is the bold combination between the old bricks and the modern tiles applied in the bathrooms and the kitchen. Also, the kitchen furniture is somehow in contrast with “the rest of the setting”.
From a certain point of view, this place looks like a labyrinth. An infinity effect is created through parallel doors that allow you to pass from one room to another. Also, most of the furniture in this apartment is on wheels. This aspect will facilitate eventual further changes in time. Let’s face it, people get bored and changes are always welcomed!
