It’s rare to find an apartment with an interior design that looked great 10 years ago and will still look beautiful 10 years from now. Usually trends come and go so if you want something to last then you have to go back to the classics. The key to a timeless and elegant interior design is simplicity and just the right amount the sparkle.
This apartment in Warsaw, Poland, designed by Hola Design features a perfect balance between style and comfort. It has a visibly elegant feel but it also feels inviting.
Don’t you just love that staircase? It looks very solid and robust yet it also has a very chic look. It connects not only the two floors but also all the spaces adjacent to it. That hallway and that living room both take advantage of the staircase and use it as a focal point.
The living area is spacious but this is not its main characteristic. What’s particularly nice is that the décor is both simple and sophisticated. That chandelier definitely adds elegance to the space and the mixture of textures and finishes makes this area feel very comfortable.
Actually actually has an open floor plan. The living room is directly connected to the dining area and to the kitchen. As usual, the dining table is in between the two other functions and it connected them but it also makes the distinction clearer.
The kitchen is minimalist, featuring white cabinets, white countertops and even a white backsplash. All the surfaces are extremely smooth and simple. The cabinets lack knobs or drawer pulls and they have a lovely glossy finish.
The kitchen island is one of the focal points of this particular area. The hood above it is concealed is a sort of white column and this is one of the details that make this apartment look so timeless.
The same balance can also be seen in the bedroom. Two chandeliers similar to those in the living area are hanging on either side of the bed, replacing task lighting. The lack of robust furniture and the warm color palette makes this room feel very relaxing.
The bedroom has an interesting shape but what’s even more interesting is the unconventional way in which it was used. Usually, the bed would be placed against the narrowest wall while in this case it sits in the center of the room and completely dominates it.
The same simple but sophisticated approach is also visible in the bathroom. The mirrored wall is a very nice touch. The same thing can be said about the wall reflected in the mirror.
Mirrors seem to play an important role and not just in the bathroom. This particular corner was designed to make the room feel spacious, bright and transparent, hence the chair and the minimalist table. Elegant details are however present.
As you’ve probably noticed, the color palette throughout the apartment is mostly composed of shades of brown, beige and black and white accents. This ensures a warm and comfortable décor. I particularly like how these colors were used in the master bathroom.
Lighting fixtures take center stage in all the rooms of the apartment. These ones have very simple but very intriguing designs and seem to drop from the ceiling like droplets of gelatine.
Not all the rooms of the apartment are that sophisticated. That depends, of course, on their function. Some areas need to be a little more informal and crazy. But not even here we can’t say that the décor is not elegant and timeless.
This is the nursery room and it’s one of the few spaces where bold colors can be seen. However, the color palette is not very diverse here either.
Another display of bold colors, all centered around the same shade: green. In combination with white, this color looks very fresh and dynamic.
