Spectacular foliage destinations for this season

Even though autumn marks the end of summer and the beginning of a cold season that will eventually bring winter along, it’s not all bad. It still has its perks. For example, the trees gradually lose their leaves and prepare for the cold season but this apparently sad process can also be spectacular. Foliage attracts people all over the world in some of the areas where it can be admired and enjoyed. Let’s take a look at some of these destinations.

1. Quebec, Canada.

Quebec’s varied landscape makes it a unique destination during this season. Its pristine reserves, beautiful mountain ranges and coastline slit are ablaze with color. Here, you can visit Parc national de la Gaspésie where Bleu Lavande will make a perfect spot for admiring foliage.{pics by Imapix}.

2. Kyoto, Japan.

Kyoto is known as a jewel during cherry blossom season but it’s also a great destination during fall. Now, everything is covered in bright red and it’s one of the most spectacular destinations for observing fall foliage. 3. New England, USA.

This destination is legendary. It’s the place that everyone in the USA and not only goes this season because nowhere else does the fall look so rich. It’s a very charming area with spectacular golden displays. 4. Transylvania, Romania.

Transylvania is famous for the legends related to Dracula and everything else. So it might in fact be the perfect destination for Halloween. And while you’re there you might as well enjoy the foliage. Here, the hills become covered with a multitude of autumn colors and the image is indeed breathtaking, especially when you watch the thick fog falling upon the landscape. 5. Douro Valley, Portugal.

Here in Douro Valley the hills that are covered with vine start to change their appearance and cover themselves in all shades of red and yellow. It’s a very romantic image and makes Portugal one of the most beautiful foliage destinations in the world.{image from Paulo Santos}.
