A Tropical Beachfront House Surrounded By Jungle And Lush Greenery
Last year, in 2019, the amazing team of architects at studio Productora completed a gorgeous project in Quintana Roo, Mexico. It was a contemporary house set on a narrow neachfront site surrounded by lush greenery. The house is entirely powered by solar and wind energy and has a very interesting and unusual design but one that also makes tons of sense in the context of its location.
There are three levels contained within the main structure. The ground floor is actually positioned below the house, the intermediate level which is L-shaped and contains all of the internal living spaces and also a large roof terrace with a pool and a breezy outdoor dining and lounging area. A small separate tower section serves as a multipurpose volume and can be used as a work or mediation space.
All three levels are connected by a beautiful spiral staircase which doubles as a focal point and a decorative architectural element. This distribution of the spaces creates a very relaxed and airy ambiance all throughout the house. Additionally, it’s also an arrangement which takes advantage of the site conditions, the climate and of course the amazing views. The entire house is elevated on cross-shaped columns and that helps to reduce its environmental impact while also making it possible to enjoy the beautiful panoramas from the upper levels. Large folding panels are installed around the perimeter of the pergolas and terraces and they can offer protection in the event of hurricanes and severe weather.
