This Small Gray Kitchen Now Has Sage Green Cabinets Below and Natural Wood Above

Gray cabinet doors with white frames once wrapped around this small kitchen, paired with pale counters, square backsplash tile, and dark patterned flooring. Upper storage stopped short of the ceiling, while the range sat beneath a cabinet-mounted hood.

Instagram creator @jessgillis shared the finished renovation after her dad completed the last details in the kitchen. New Shaker cabinets replaced the gray fronts, with sage green used across the base and natural wood reserved for the uppers.

Glass doors, wood countertops, a black sink and faucet, paneled walls, new flooring, and a larger range hood completed the remodel. The footprint remains compact, but few surfaces from the original kitchen stayed unchanged.

Gray doors sat inside white cabinet frames across the sink wall and lower corner cabinets. Exposed hinges and dark pulls broke up the fronts, while narrow doors divided the storage into small sections.

White counters met a backsplash of square gray tiles. Dark patterned flooring extended beneath the cabinets, adding another finish to the gray, white, and wood already visible around the room.

Double stainless steel sinks occupied the counter beneath the window. Small shelves filled the narrow space beside it, with more upper cabinets extending toward the stove.

Range ventilation was built into the cabinet above the white stove. Upper storage ended below the ceiling, leaving an open strip above the doors.

New lower cabinets changed both the color and door style. Sage green Shaker fronts replaced the gray slab doors and contrasting white frames.

Wide drawers now occupy much of the corner run, with cup pulls across their centers. Round knobs appear on the cabinet doors, bringing warm metal against the muted green finish.

Upper storage did not receive the same green treatment. Natural wood frames surround glass doors, with matching crown molding taking the cabinetry to the ceiling.

Divided panes expose dishes, bowls, and glassware inside. Two open wood shelves continue toward the window where the former kitchen had small shelves and cabinetry.

New wood counters run beneath the glass cabinets before turning toward the sink. Grain remains visible across the surface instead of being covered with a solid finish.

Stainless steel basins were replaced with a black double sink. A tall black spring faucet rises in front of the window, matching the darker fixtures introduced elsewhere in the room.

Three glass-front doors now fill the upper section beside the window. Wood muntins divide each front into six panes, allowing the cabinet contents to become part of the wall.

Solid panels frame the glass sections at both ends. Crown molding closes the former gap at the ceiling, while the open shelves keep the section beside the window free of another full cabinet.

Range Hood Became Its Own Feature

Cabinetry above the old stove gave way to a broad hood surround. Sage green covers the tapered section, with a thick natural wood band running across its lower edge.

A black range replaced the white appliance beneath it. Wood shelves stop beside the hood rather than continuing storage across the cooking area.

Sink and range remain along the same short runs, but the surfaces surrounding them have changed. Gray-and-white cabinets, pale counters, tile, dark flooring, and white appliances gave way to Shaker fronts, wood, paneling, and black fixtures.

One decision stands out across the finished room: upper and lower storage no longer need to match. Sage green stays across the base cabinets, while natural wood takes over above the counter.

Which part changes this kitchen most: the split cabinet finishes, wood countertops, or new range hood?
