Small Apartment With Hidden Rooms And High Ceilings

Sometimes, when there’s not a lot of space to work with, hiding some of the features turns out to be a good decision. By doing that, you maintain a simple look throughout. This also gives you an opportunity to come up with other ideas for saving space and adding comfort.

This apartment measures only 32 square meters which is not a lot, not even for a single person. But it has a very interesting and unusual layout. A wooden cube takes center stage and appears to be just a massive piece of furniture when it fact it hides not one but two rooms.

Inside the cube is the bathroom. It’s small but, given the context, it occupies less space than a regular one. Notice that the cube doesn’t go all the way up to the ceiling and it has a staircase attached to it.

The staircase offers access to the sleeping area which, in this case, replaces the bedroom. It’s basically just a bed placed on top of the cube. Shelves provide storage and a small and cute lamp offers light at night in case the user decides to read something before going to sleep.

The open shelves near the bed are part of a much bigger structure. It continues and covers the entire wall. This is, in fact, a big bookcase with compartments which provides plenty of storage for both the sleeping area above and the spaces down below.

The layout is very functionally organized. Next to the wooden cube is what seems to be a work space or a home office. Located next to the bookcase, it has lots of space for storage. But this could also serve as a lounge space/ living area, given that it also has a comfortable sofa.

The table is multifunctional. It’s long but not very high so it could serve as a sort of oversized coffee table but also as a dining table.

The combination of stained wood and white is refreshing, simple and chic. The yellow chair adds a little bit of energy to the space and the wall behind it has a dynamic look as well.

The big bookcase is not the only storage space in the apartment. The wall opposite to the wooden cube also hides something. Behind the white doors there’s even more storage space.

The rest of the room is simple and has a décor that matches the elements presented so far. The wall opposite to the bookcase features a dark gray look complemented by white cabinets at the bottom.

Although it may not be obvious from the beginning, this is actually the kitchen. It’s very simple. There’s storage below and a simple shelf on the wall. There’s not a lot of room for big appliances so compromises had to be made.

The big windows provide light in the key areas. It’s great how the layout seems to take perfect advantage of their positioning.

Being small, the apartment had to be simple. However, this doesn’t make it boring. There are lots of interesting features throughout and the staircase is one of them. Seen from the side it looks like an origami which climbs up.

Other little details complement the décor and give it the perfect look you see now. The yellow chair is one of my favorite pieces.

You’re probably curious to see how the bathroom looks like. Since there’s no light inside inside the cube, cove lighting was used throughout.

The same combination of white and wood was also used here.

This gives the space an elegant and inviting look. Hiding the bathroom here was very clever. Theoretically, it’s a tiny space but it was organized in such a way that it seems spacious.{found on the-village}.
