Contemporary Sophisticated South African Home

In South Africa, Nico van Meulen Architects completed the project called the “House The” which refers to an exquisite contemporary house that tends to be a balance between its architectural structure and the natural environment where it is situated. It is a combination of simple structural elements and special decorative items and interior details that result in a wonderful modern home.

Its original internal walls on the ground level were removed and replaced by a porte cochere and a new lanai with an infinity edge pool. This porte cochere is suspended from a semi-circular beam supported by the bisecting wall and a huge column and transfer beam over the pool. A koi pond was added to the north side of the existing lounge with glass stepping stones that lead to a new pivoted glass front door. At the front door there is a small, nice welcoming waterfall and perhaps an impressive element is represented by the sheet of water which can be seen through a cut-out in a steel wall.

The wood elements appear in almost every area contrasted by white or green nuances. The modern kitchen is such an example which actually is an open area. Everything is modern like the pieces of furniture which have brown, grey, purple or green colors or the fireplace that separates a bedroom and a media area.

The bedrooms are spacious, with large windows that offer great views and have even an open bathroom area. This South African home represents the perfect home for those who adore spectacular views, the comfort of everything that is modern and a place which impress through its simplicity and sophistication at the same time.
