Today we’re checking out a beautiful house which is located in Viseu, Portugal. The project was completed in 2020 by architecture studio Artspazios group. It’s a 7394 square foot project (that’s 687 square meters) which is quite a bit and although that doesn’t leave a lot of space around the house for big outdoor features the connection with nature and the surroundings is still a strong one.
What we love most about this house is the neutral palette of colors and earthy feel that all the finishes and materials used create throughout the whole property. The house gets to enjoy beautiful views of a valley and of the nearby mountains and it takes advantage of them through all of its openings and seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
The form and overall geometry of the house as a whole are simple. All the straight lines and edges give it a very simplistic look and that goes hand in hand with the general aesthetic of the build. It’s not lacking detail but rather thrives through simplicity. At the same time, because the palette of materials and finishes used is limited to only a few options this gives the house a homogenous look both inside and out.
The interior is organized on multiple level, with the garage marking the lowest one. The main living area has a high ceiling and can actually be seen from the study and the guest room which is situated upstairs. That in turn creates a strong connection between the floors and between all the different spaces within the house.
