An architect’s home with a modern traditional décor

This is the home of architect Durval Dias Junior. It’s located in Mallorca, Spain and it has an interesting story. The structure that is now a beautiful house used to be merely a ruin when the architect found it. Originally, the building was an oil mill that dated back to the 1700s. It has a lot of history and with time it became an abandoned structure.

This structure was then discovered by the architect who decided to make it his home. It was a long and difficult project with lots of challenges but nothing could make the owner change his mind. He immediately fell in love with the structure from the moment he first saw it. He knew that he would eventually be able to transform it and to turn it into a unique home. The house is now his retreat. The house initially presented a typical rural architectural and this was the element that made the owner be so interested in it.

The abandoned structure was then rebuilt and restructured. The architect found there the inspiration to renovate this place and to turn it into what he now calls home. He decided to preserve the building’s exterior architecture and to also include some of the very beautiful traditional details in the interior as well.

He also opted for a contrasting modern décor to complement the elegant simplicity of the architecture. The interior décor is a combination of modern pieces with clean and simple design and vintage items with industrial touches. The colors chosen for the interior are simple and include tones of white, black and earth colors. The house is a perfect example of a mixture between modern and traditional elements.{found on nuevo-estilo}.
