A very charming and rustic Scandinavian home with views of the lake

Most often, the best part of getting to build a home in the countryside is being able to choose the location. For this charming house, the location is the Scandinavian countryside, on the shore of a lake. Usually, when designing a house, the environment is very important. As a designer, you have to incorporate that building into the landscape and this means making it blend it as beautiful as possible. It also means that you have to work with the views and to try to make them a part of the design itself.

This beautiful house looks like it’s been there forever. It has a simple exterior design with a rustic charm and. Even though it contrasts with the surrounding natural environment, it also integrates beautifully into the landscape. The clients wanted a mix of old and new and they wanted to combine rustic and modern elements. It’s why the wooden exterior seems to contrast with the concrete features found inside the house.

The interior design is a little more different than you would expect it to be. The wooden exterior creates the impression of a rustic country home. The interior, however, also has a modern side. Here, the wooden planks used for the ceilings contrast with the concrete walls and the straight lines of the windows and the roof are complemented by the delicate curves of the columns and of the decorative architectural features.

The kitchen is mainly made of concrete and incorporates a series of modern elements, cleverly disguised as rustic details. The natural wood furniture adds warmth to the décor and makes the atmosphere feel casual and inviting. Some of the rooms in the house have a strong rustic appearance while others are more modern. An example would be the sauna that greatly contrasts with the dining room.{found on tidningenlantliv}.
