Old Shipping Pallet Turned Into Vertical Craft Storage That Freed Up an Entire Wall
Wrapping paper, vinyl, and craft paper rolls often end up stacked in corners because few storage cabinets are built for oversized supplies. Looking for a better solution, Chelsea Mohrman’s husband repurposed a discarded shipping pallet instead of buying another organizer.
Leaving most of the pallet intact, he added only a few boards to create storage compartments before finishing the front rails with white paint. The result stores wrapping paper, craft supplies, paint cans, and tools in one vertical unit that uses little floor space while turning an empty wall into organized storage.
Original Pallet Provided the Entire Framework
The project started with a standard shipping pallet standing upright. Instead of taking it apart, the existing frame remained intact and became the structure for the organizer.
Keeping the pallet whole reduced the amount of lumber, cutting, and assembly needed to create the finished storage unit.
Added Boards Created Storage Compartments
Measurements determined where short boards would close the open gaps between the pallet rails. Each piece was cut before being nailed into position.
Those additions turned the empty openings into individual storage pockets without changing the original pallet layout.
White Paint Defined Every Shelf
The front rails received white paint while the remaining pallet kept its weathered wood surface. The contrast separated each storage section and gave the organizer a cleaner appearance.
The painted rails also covered mismatched lumber while allowing the reclaimed wood texture to remain visible.
Open Sections Organized Supplies by Size
Upper compartments hold wrapping paper, vinyl, fabric, and craft paper rolls while the center shelves store paint, scissors, and smaller supplies.
Keeping each category together prevents long rolls from falling over and makes everyday materials easier to reach.
Vertical Storage Recovered Empty Wall Space
The finished organizer stores dozens of paper rolls inside the footprint of a single pallet. Most of the storage extends upward instead of across the floor.
Using wall space instead of cabinets leaves more room for worktables, shelving, or seating.
Simple Labels Finished the Organizer
Small letter labels identify sections for paper and paint while keeping the reclaimed pallet construction visible. Every compartment remains open, making supplies easy to find without opening drawers or cabinet doors.
One discarded shipping pallet became a full-height storage organizer capable of holding wrapping paper, vinyl, paint supplies, and craft tools in a compact footprint. Few added boards transformed an ordinary pallet into storage that looks custom built instead of improvised.
