A Long and Narrow Cabin House With A Beautiful Burnt Wood Exterior

A long and narrow floor plan is not very commonly used in residential projects. It is however perfectly suited for this modern cabin from Valle de Bravo, Mexico. This is a project completed in 2019 by architecture office K+A Diseño and the house measures 650 square meters across. The owners were focused mainly on three elements. They wanted the house to have a simple layout, to have all the common areas on the same floor and to be a low-maintenance structure overall. They allowed the architects to envision the rest of the project and this is the design that they came up with. It’s a modern cabin-style house with a pitched roof and a long and linear floor plan. It has large windows and doors which connect the interior spaces to the outdoors and it has a dark exterior which helps blend into the landscape and look more natural in this setting.

The exterior of the house is clad in burnt wood and the roof only forms small overhangs at the narrow front and the back sections, maintaining a very simple look on the sides. A generously-sized deck with a pergola roof allow the living areas to be connected to the outdoors and frames a lovely view of the green forest surroundings. Inside, all the rooms are arranged in a row and they’re connected by a super long hallway. As requested, the living room, kitchen and the dining area are part of the same open space with large windows, a view of the golf course and a very warm and cozy ambiance. The wooden walls, floors and ceilings take the cabin-inspired design one step further are create a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere inside while the high ceiling maintain an open and airy feel throughout the entire house.
