French Mirror

I have thought again and again at the fact that many old things are valued too much and some too little. For example when you go to the museum, the older the exhibit the more precious, but when you have some old furniture in your home, it is considered “out of fashion” and ugly. Well, it depends. I think it is a pity to throw something just because it is old, as you can use your imagination and turn it into something spectacular. For example this French mirror is not new, but not old either – it is the kind of thing you can get from an old item with some new inspiration.

It is actually a beautifully shaped mirror that is made in the French style of the classics. It has beautiful curves and angles and the frame is made of reclaimed solid oak. The design is pretty simple and that makes it even nicer. The reclaimed wood is selected by hand, then it is carved to match the design and sanded in order to get a soft and smooth surface.

The pieces are joined together using the mortise-and-tenon technique and that makes it look great. The mirror is rectangular in size, except for the upper part that is embellished with a few simple and artistic curves which give it elegance. The item is available now for $850 from Restoration Hardware.
