From Garage To Industrial Chic Home
What is now a cozy and modern home was once an auto garage. There aren’t many things that reveal the past of the building, except maybe a few signs displayed on the walls of the house. The home now belongs to a young couple who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. They wanted to transform the cold garage into a comfortable home and they were very successful in their attempt.
Their new chic pad features 2,000 square feet of living space. It has one bedroom and one bathroom plus, of course, a large dining area and a living room. In order to maintain a style close to the original, the couple chose a raw style decorated with rustic salvaged pieces and unfinished surfaces. This creates an industrial-chic look throughout the house. Although it’s not a warm and cozy space by definition, the house still feels like home.
The couple used unexpected elements when furnishing the rooms. For example, the mudroom features two school bus seats that were used to form a bench. The dining room has as a focal point a motorcycle. In general, most of the elements used for the project were salvaged and refinished. They have a rustic feel and they give character to the space. a significant décor element is the American Oil sign that the couple found outside and mounted on the bedroom wall.
