Bathroom towel hooks are usually chosen for function, not appearance. These black-and-white striped designs take a different approach, looking more like decorative wall accents than everyday hardware.

After the board-and-batten wall was finished, Brittney Smart chose black-and-white striped Anthropologie hooks instead of a traditional towel bar. The hooks introduced a decorative element that stood out against the white panels while providing storage for bath towels.
Curved brass arms and striped ceramic details echoed the bathroom’s mix of vintage and modern influences. Rather than disappearing into the wall, the hooks became one of the most noticeable details on the finished feature wall.
Wall Studs Determined the Hook Placement
Hook placement required more than visual balance. A stud finder helped locate solid mounting points capable of supporting heavy bath towels during daily use.
Structural support influenced where the hooks could be installed, but spacing between the board-and-batten panels also played a role in creating a balanced arrangement.
Decorative Hardware Replaced a Standard Towel Bar
Traditional towel bars often create a long horizontal line across the wall. Individual hooks allowed the vertical board-and-batten pattern to remain visible while providing the same function.
Mounting the hooks within separate wall panels helped them feel integrated into the design rather than added as an afterthought.
Hook Height Kept Towels Above the Baseboard Heater
Hook placement needed to balance convenience with the location of the baseboard heater below. The hooks were installed high enough to keep hanging bath towels from resting against the heater while remaining within reach for children using the bathroom.
Mounted at roughly shoulder height, the hooks provide enough vertical clearance for full-size bath towels without allowing them to touch the floor or heating element. Their position also fits neatly within the board-and-batten panels, reinforcing the orderly layout established across the wall.
