This entire house designed by Wespi de Meuron Romeo architects in Brissago, Switzerland is a monolith cut out of concrete, or so the design suggests. The house is built into the slope and offers gorgeous views, taking advantage of the topography. The fact that the interior design is so simple and austere is not surprising. The cottage is a reinterpretation of a modern tree house, featuring a simple design inspired by nature. A great fireplace design can even boost the charm of a hotel. We absolutely love this lounge space at the Akelarre Hotel. It has an entire wall of open cubbies which hold books and groups of comfortable lounge chairs organized around coffee tables. The space is divided into two symmetrical sections by a black marble fireplace built right into the bookcase wall. Two matching marble stripes expand horizontally on either side of the fireplace. It’s a design done by Mecanismo.

Hotel de Rougemont located in Switzerland definitely knows how to make the most of a fireplace too. It has this welcoming lounge space with huge windows that unveil the magnificent panorama, a bookshelf wall and a stone fireplace at the center of the room with glass enclosures so it can admired from all sides. The natural stone in combination with the wooden ceiling and the warm and neutral colors, soft textures and pleasant accent lighting ensure a very inviting and warm ambiance.
