An Honest Review of Rain X 2-in1 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent
Rain X Glass Cleaner and Rain Repellent claims to clean automotive glass and leave behind a protective layer. This protective topcoat causes water to bead and prevents snow, ice, and bugs from sticking to your windshield, which is super helpful if you live in an area with harsh weather.
To see if Rain X lived up to its claims, I tested it on my own vehicle. It worked well for repelling moisture but didn’t clean as well as I would’ve liked. Read below for a full review and to learn how I tested this product.
Rain X 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner + Rain Repellent Review
- Cleaning Rating: 5/10
- Rain Repellent Rating: 9/10
- Ease of Use: Medium
- Scent: None
- Where to buy: Amazon
Directions: Spray the product on the glass in small sections. Wipe away with a clean towel to remove dirt and grime. Wipe with the dry side of the towel to leave a streak-free water-beading coating. Allow at least an hour before exposure to rain or water. Use on exterior auto glass. Only use in well-ventilated areas.
How We Tested Rain X Glass Cleaner and Rain Repellent
I used Rain X on my windshield to test how well it works. I had mixed results.
I started by spraying half of my windshield with the product and wiping it off. Besides removing a layer of dust, you couldn’t tell which side of my car I’d cleaned. So, I reapplied in smaller sections, trying to scrub off dirt and splatters. It took a lot of elbow grease, and still no luck on some spots.
Here’s the good news: this product does repel moisture. I dumped water on both sides of my windshield, and it’s easy to tell which side I treated.
RainX helps repel water and is something I’ll use a lot during the winter months. But next time, I’ll clean my windshield with my homemade glass cleaner a day before using this.
