5 Ways To Utilize Under the Stairs

People may not realize how much space they aren’t utilizing in their home until they’re told what to look for.So, here’s your homework for the day. Look around at all the nooks and crannies in your house, apartment, town home, condo … whatever you have  … and use your imagination.Take the stairs for example, could you not just take that space and make something wonderful? 1. Create more storage.

Under the stairs in the perfect place to add storage space, especially for smaller homes and big collectors. Movies, CDs, family board games, photo albums, books, extra winter outwear, sports equipment, shoes and coats, even outdoor tools for those who don’t have a garage … there are so many different ways to use this central storage area. All you need to do is install the correct drawers, closets or shelving. Let’s face it, we could all use some more space for organization.

2. Create a crafter’s or writer’s corner.

Just a small space is needed for big imaginations. And we should definitely cater to those with  big imaginations. Create a creative haven for the crafter or writer of the family. It’ll be just a small, adorable solace to get some of their artsy juices flowing. Add a cork board to post up some photos, add a couple shelves to organize and a plug to juice up the computer.

3. Create a reader’s dream.

For a quick, cozy nap or a quick, relaxing read, take under the stairs and create a comfy place to rest a while. Add a seat bench, cushions, blankets and pillows. It’ll quickly become everyone’s favorite spot.

4. Create a dog house.

Your pup can be living in style too. You don’t have to have your pet lounging around the living room furniture when you can utilize your extra space in such an easy way. Create their own little house for a good night’s sleep, just puppy alone time and even a cat’s dream getaway from the hustle and bustle of the house!

5. Create a guest bed.

So maybe you don’t have the room for guests? Well, now you can! If you have the space … why not turn it into something special for when mom or your best friend comes to visit? This double as a reading, relaxing corner of the house too!
