Jungle Retreat with a Floating Design

Canopy House, designed by Studio MK27, is elevated above the forest floor using stilts, allowing minimal disturbance to the lush Atlantic Forest in Guarujá, Brazil. The concrete prism structure blends into the dense vegetation, with a rooftop pool and open-air living space offering immersive views of the surrounding jungle and ocean.

The upper level houses the main social areas under a lightweight canopy, enclosed by sliding glass panels. This design blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, reinforcing the connection to nature. The interior features Brazilian craftsmanship and furniture, including raw wood pieces, straw pendant lamps, and artisan-designed wall elements.

Accessed by an exterior spiral staircase, the house prioritizes open-air circulation, intentionally exposing occupants to the tropical climate. The entire project is an architectural response to steep terrain, environmental restrictions, and a desire to highlight Brazil’s design heritage.
