“Living on the coast” – an inspiring book by Barclay Butera

Most of our knowledge comes from others. When someone is good as something, they share those information with the rest of the world and this way we all get to assimilate them. Books a great way of transmitting information and they cover all domains, including interior design. “Living on the coast” is a very inspiring book written by Barclay Butera.

The author analyzes a range of seaside homes. He classifies them into five categories (Cottage Beach, Classic Beach, Serene Beach, Modern Beach and Elegant Beach) and he then takes ach style and develops it. To better make everyone understand, he gives concrete examples. Here are just a few of the homes featured in the books. They represent different types of beach homes. Most of the homes given as examples are bright and serene. They follow a variety of themes but most of them are classical, such as the nautical theme.

Each example is followed by advices. They include information related to the fabrics and textures that go with that particular style and décor. The designer also gives advice in terms of color, prints and how to mix them in order to create a balanced décor. The book is written in a very friendly manner, as if the author would talk to a student. He shares his secrets and lets us into his own world. All we have to do is open our minds and let the information in.
