Modular Drop Pod Introduces Compact Architecture in Indonesia
The Drop Pod, by Inspiral Architecture and Design Studios, explores modular housing through a compact prefabricated structure. Built in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, in 2025, the project tests how small-scale design can adapt to different sites and needs.
Its Lombok version uses a mezzanine layout, doubling usable space within a minimal footprint. The pod is raised 60 cm on a riverstone foundation, a simple intervention that addresses flooding risks and uneven terrain while grounding the lightweight structure.
Designed as an expandable system, the Drop Pod can stand alone, connect as extensions, or scale into housing clusters. Its modular framework highlights efficiency, resilience, and adaptability as key tools in contemporary residential architecture.
