Marble and Wood Define Elegant Kitchen Island in Santa Catarina Apartment
Paulo Spessatto Arquitetura redesigned a 130 m² apartment in Balneário Piçarras, Santa Catarina, to maximize space and create functional, integrated living areas. The project combines modern finishes, multifunctional furniture, and a layout that improve storage.
A standout feature of the apartment is the kitchen island, where marble and wood are seamlessly integrated. The sculpted marble countertop, with its natural veining and irregular edge, contrasts with the vertical wooden slats of the base, creating a refined yet organic aesthetic. This combination not only adds visual depth but also balances the sleek stainless-steel appliances and warm cabinetry, making the island a functional centerpiece in the open-plan layout.
The kitchen serves as the main social hub, with an island and integrated barbecue area connecting seamlessly to the dining and living rooms. Neutral tones and natural textures set a calm backdrop, while lighting design defines zones without physical partitions.
Bedrooms and private areas follow the same clean-lined approach, using built-in cabinetry to reduce clutter. The result is a compact yet efficient home that balances functionality with contemporary comfort, tailored for everyday living by the sea.
