IKEA Shoppers Discovered a Different Use for This Bamboo Drying Rack
IKEA designed the OSTBIT bamboo drying rack to hold plates, glasses, and other kitchenware while they air dry on a countertop. Instagram creator Solenn Ben Othmane (@la_maison_de_soso) discovered a completely different use for it.

Using self-adhesive mounting strips, she attached the bamboo rack vertically beside a bathroom mirror and transformed it into compact towel storage. Rows of wooden pegs hold rolled hand towels, creating an organizer that occupies little wall space, requires no drilling, and keeps guest towels within easy reach of the sink.
Add Self-Adhesive Strips to the Back

Double-sided adhesive mounting strips are attached to the back of the bamboo drying rack. Protective backing is removed before installation, preparing the rack for direct attachment to tile.
No screws, anchors, drills, or permanent hardware are required. Adhesive strips turn a countertop kitchen accessory into a wall-mounted organizer within minutes.
Press the Rack Directly Onto the Tile

The bamboo rack is rotated vertically and pressed onto the wall beside the bathroom mirror. Firm pressure activates the adhesive strips and secures the rack to the tile surface.
Drill-free installation makes the idea suitable for renters and for bathrooms where homeowners want to avoid drilling through porcelain or stone tile.
Fold and Roll the Towels

Small hand towels are folded into narrow rectangles and rolled into compact bundles before being placed on the organizer. Consistent folding helps each towel fit neatly between the rows of pegs.
Size works particularly well for guest towels and hand towels stored near a vanity or sink. Preparation creates a more organized appearance once the rack is filled.
Slide the Towels Onto the Pegs

Each rolled towel rests between a pair of wooden pegs. Individual placement keeps towels separated while making them easy to remove one at a time.
Open storage eliminates the need for baskets, shelves, or cabinets. Every towel remains visible and accessible.
Finished Rack Looks Like Custom Bathroom Storage

Once fully loaded, the bamboo drying rack resembles a purpose-built towel organizer rather than a repurposed kitchen accessory. Repeating rows of rolled towels create a display often associated with boutique hotels and spa-inspired bathrooms.

Natural bamboo introduces texture against smooth tile surfaces while keeping frequently used hand towels within easy reach of the sink.
