Bali Home with Central Void and Slide by Alexis Dornier
AKASHI Residence in Pererenan, Bali, is a three-story concrete and timber home designed by Alexis Dornier. A central open void organizes the plan, brings in natural light and airflow, and contains a stainless steel slide connecting the upper floor to the pool level.
The house uses exposed concrete slabs, vertical wooden elements, and full-height glass openings. Curved balcony edges and open walkways define circulation around the void. A steel-and-wood staircase provides primary access between levels.
The ground floor includes a swimming pool surrounded by tropical landscaping and shaded seating. Upper floors contain bedrooms and bathrooms oriented toward garden views, with sliding glass doors and minimal detailing.
Interior finishes include untreated wood, stone, and smooth plaster. The home also features an open-air gym, a large dining area, and a pivoting entry door. The design focuses on climate response, functional flow, and integrated outdoor space.
