Galgo House Blends Minimalism with Nature and Companionship
Set within a lush residential complex in Brazil, Galgo House by Tati Tavares and Alex Dalcin Arquitetura is a weekend retreat that redefines minimal living. Originally envisioned as a functional kennel, the design evolved into a serene 290-square-meter home where the owners could relax and spend time with their whippets.
Constructed with concrete, steel, and wood, the architecture maintains a low profile, blending naturally into its environment. The layout embraces the outdoors through large openings and covered patios that blur the line between inside and out. A bold concrete portal frames the structure, while wooden brises and terracotta walls bring texture and warmth.
The central volume houses a master suite, flanked by discreet guest rooms. Inside, the social areas flow into one another—a living room, dining space, and kitchen unified beneath an extended roofline. Outside, dedicated spaces for the dogs and a caretaker’s unit complete the layout, all designed to harmonize with the overall form.
Galgo House is more than a dwelling—it’s a space crafted for presence, stillness, and shared moments, proving that thoughtful design can serve both humans and their four-legged companions.
