Floating Among Pines: A Bold Cantilever House
Tucked into the steep slope of a pine forest in Mexico’s Sierra de Pachuca, this bold cantilevered home balances rugged materials with a refined architectural vision.
Designed by Rodrigo Saavedra, the structure projects over the terrain like a suspended volume, anchored by exposed concrete and steel. Large glass openings frame the surrounding trees, offering uninterrupted views while allowing the house to blend with its wooded environment.
The palette interior design is restrained and raw—board-formed concrete walls, blackened steel beams, and reclaimed wood surfaces create a quiet, grounded interior. A hanging fireplace adds a sculptural focal point to the living space, while the open layout keeps the atmosphere light and connected.
The design is minimalist, but deeply connected to place, climate, and landscape.
