A Miami Apartment Uses Soft Geometry Instead of Walls to Shape Family Living
FM Apartment by Nar Design Studio occupies the 30th floor of Aria on the Bay in Miami’s Edgewater. The 150 m² apartment was designed for a young family with one child and two parents working from home. The plan is a compact open layout where kitchen, dining, and living share one continuous space. Instead of separating functions, the design relies on proportion, circulation, and soft geometry to keep the interior readable and efficient.
Within the open space, the dining zone acts as a visual anchor rather than a fixed center. A round Guatemala Green marble table defines the area without enclosing it, surrounded by sand-toned chairs with petal-shaped profiles. The circular form improves movement and keeps the space fluid. In the living area, a curved sofa, pebble-shaped coffee table, and rounded lounge chairs repeat the same geometry, reducing visual friction in a tight footprint.
The TV wall provides structure in the absence of partitions. An asymmetrical composition pairs a blackened wood media console with ribbed sand-lacquer panels, metal shelving, and a long stone ledge with concealed LED lighting.
This ledge runs behind the dining table, marking the transition between zones while maintaining openness. Cove lighting extends the main wall plane, and smoked mirrors reflect daylight and exterior views deeper into the apartment.
The private areas follow the same restrained language. The primary bedroom uses a leaf-inspired mural at the headboard, rounded furniture, and layered lighting to limit contrast and glare.
Materials were chosen for durability and ease of use, with stable forms and no sharp edges to suit family life. Through organic shapes, controlled lighting, and a clear open layout, Nar Design Studio delivers a compact home that supports work, rest, and everyday use.
