The Majestic Elephant Chair

Once you’ve seen the rest of the pieces from this collection, the Elephant Chair doesn’t come as a surprise. The chair is the newest addition to the Animal Chair Collection designed by Maximo Riera. The collection includes other very impressive pieces such as the Rhino Chair or the Walrus chair and you can read all about them on our site.

After experimenting with different animal shapes, the designer chose to pay homage to the largest living land animal on Earth, the elephant. The chair is as impressive as the real animal. The whole idea of creating furniture that closely mimics real living animals and all the details that make them unique is genius. The Animal Chair Collection will always be opened to new creations. The Elephant Chair is a piece that not only complements this collection but also highlights the artist’s connection to the Indian culture.

Despite the dimensions of the chair that mimic the shape of the elephant, this is a very elegant and delicate piece of furniture. As expected, the Elephant Chair was limited to only 20 units. Each piece costs £60,000 ($97,100) and, as you can imagine, it’s very hard to get your hand on one. The Elephant Chair is crafted with a steel frame, compressed foam and polyurethane. It also features a fine leather finish and creating one takes about 9 weeks. The dimensions of the chair are 2.97cms deep, 2.30cms tall and 1.67cm wide and it weighs 160 kg.
