This House Is a Playful Dance of Curves and Light in Sydney’s Waverley Suburb
Moon House by James Garvan Architecture brings a refreshing sense of joy and movement to a quiet Waverley street in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Designed for a young family seeking openness, warmth, and connection, the house translates personality into architecture, merging serious craftsmanship with moments of whimsy.
The transition from the compact front to the soaring, light-filled rear is striking. Curved ceilings rise above the living spaces, filtering daylight through carefully placed openings and connecting visually to the upper level.
The limestone floors run seamlessly from the entryway to the pool, grounding the home in a continuous natural texture. Joinery elements and soft materials maintain calm and order, allowing the home’s dynamic geometry and ever-changing light to take center stage.
Upstairs, the curved window in the main bedroom overlooks the leafy streetscape, while a small study gazes down into the airy living room below. Every surface, curve, and material in Moon House reflects balance—between energy and tranquility, form and function. The result is a home that feels alive to its surroundings, expressive yet serene, and deeply attuned to the lives unfolding within it.
The backyard features a serene, resort-like pool framed by pale stone tiles, lush tropical greenery, and a soft palette that creates a relaxed coastal atmosphere perfect for outdoor dining and summer lounging.
