This Cabin Balances Tradition and Modern Clarity
This contemporary cabin by Archmondo Piotr Kowalczyk is designed to merge with its landscape rather than dominate it. Two elongated volumes form an L-shaped plan that embraces a private courtyard sheltered by a concrete wall. The simple geometry, vertical cladding, and soft grey metal roof reinterpret the archetype of a barn with modern precision, creating a connection between rural heritage and minimalist design.
The open-plan living area at the intersection of the two wings serves as the home’s social heart, while the bedrooms—each with direct outdoor access—maintain a sense of privacy. Subtle overhangs provide both shade and architectural rhythm, emphasizing the home’s clean lines and balance between openness and enclosure.
Natural materials—spruce, concrete, granite, and metal—tie the house to its surroundings. Neutral colors and raw textures evoke the coastal landscape, fostering calm and warmth.
