Pierattelli Architetture Restores 700 m² Historic Villa Near Florence
Pierattelli Architetture restored Villa il Gioiello, a 700 m² historic residence on the hills near Florence, blending preserved architectural elements with modern functions.
The five-level home retains original features such as vaulted ceilings, teak parquet floors, arches, and exposed wooden beams, while integrating custom furnishings, contemporary finishes, and 20th-century artworks by artists including Boetti, Spalletti, Kounellis, and Schifano. The renovation also redefined the surrounding garden, designed with Gianni Medoro, adding a white quartzite infinity pool.
Interiors feature a double-height living room with cross vaults, a Tuscan-inspired kitchen combining warm teak and stone surfaces, and a dining area framed by arched windows. Custom elements include a corten and wood staircase, a Canaletto walnut and glass staircase in the master suite, and a brass-detailed walnut library. Additional spaces include a cinema room, hi-fi room, gym, sauna, and a top-floor guest apartment created through a structural expansion.
Bathrooms are finished in Carrara white marble, Verde Alpi marble, Canaletto walnut, and gold or platinum Dornbracht fittings. The master bath includes a freestanding tub, a large shower with the Aquamoon system, and a refined combination of traditional and contemporary design details. Throughout, the villa merges historic character with a cohesive, contemporary vision.
