I don’t know about you but I would sure love to have a hammock in my home. I don’t have any outdoor space where I could put one but hammocks can also be installed indoors. In facts, there are all sorts of creative variations.
For example, did you know some people have houses where an entire floor is a huge hammock? Let’s take a look and see how they look like.
Maison NW was designed by architect Nathalie Wolberg and it’s located in Saint-Quen near Paris. It has three floors and one of them is basically a huge net like a hammock. It’s the perfect spot when you want to relax and simply drift away while looking at the sky.
Designed by OODA, this apartment has a somewhat similar element. Because the flat was small, the team wanted to maximize the usable space so they came up with the idea of a suspended hammock bed which connects the upper level with the wall and lets you hover over the staircase.
This apartment is also small and it was designed by Ruetemple for two students. The team wanted to make the place fun and unique. The second is a huge hammock. To do this, the they removed the floor and only preserved the supporting structure and the frame. Then they installed webbed material and transformed this area into a relaxation spot.
Having a huge hammock bed at home is definitely cool but how cool would it be to have one at the office? We actually found such an example. This bed looks like a giant net and it;s overlooking the bottom floor of an actual office.
At the Misool Eco Resort, the idea of an outdoor hammock was taken to a whole new level. Here you can find a hammock embedded into the deck so you can actually sit there and relax with the water underneath and the sun above. It must definitely be a memorable experience.
But let’s get back to hammock beds and ways of including them into your home’s design. This residence is located in Bangkok, Thailand and it was designed by Integrated Field. It has a modern, fun and very pleasant design, especially considering the hammock bed in the kids’ bedroom. Studying has never been more pleasant.
