Arched Retreat by the Sea in Crete
This coastal villa by Entopos Architects is a serene holiday home that blends curved forms, natural textures, and sea views. Located near Frangokastello in Crete, the design uses soft arches, sandy plaster walls, and olive trees to echo the Mediterranean landscape.
The indoor-outdoor layout flows effortlessly, with arched doors and pergolas creating shaded transitions. Inside, the palette is calm and earthy, with wood, stone, and textured plaster setting a tranquil tone. The former well, now a circular jacuzzi, anchors a courtyard with a sculptural presence.
Every detail, from perforated bricks to the fluid pool edges, balances privacy and openness. It’s a home made for rest, framed by nature and shaped by the rhythm of the sea.
The home feels like a natural extension of the coastline, quiet, grounded, and full of subtle curves. Its architecture doesn’t compete with the landscape but complements it, offering spaces that invite pause, light, and connection with the sea breeze. Every arch, tree, and stone path is placed with purpose, creating a retreat that feels timeless.
