This Brazilian Apartment Features a Double-Sided Sofa and Wall-to-Wall Granilite
Designed for a young entrepreneur and his dog, this 160-square-meter apartment in SĂ£o Paulo was submitted to Homedit.com as an example of thoughtful contemporary living that balances privacy with social connection. The project, developed through a collaboration between AVAA Arquitetura and architect Samia Sarayedine Testa, transformed a bare developer shell into a refined, fully realized residence over the course of six months, with completion in June 2025.
The renovation overhauled all electrical and plumbing systems to support a layout focused on gathering. A flexible living room anchors the design, featuring a double-sided sofa that pivots between the home theater and the conversation area, while the terrace retains its original dividers to control barbecue odors without blocking the flow to the solid wood dining table by Tauna.
Material selection creates a foundation of texture and warmth throughout the home. In-situ poured granilite flooring unites the rooms with a durable, speckled surface, contrasting with the depth of ebonized wood panels.
The lighting design uses warm LED fixtures to wash over Elitis wallpaper and dark cabinetry, establishing a scenographic atmosphere. In the master suite, a structural beam remains exposed in concrete and plaster, adding an industrial touch above a bed upholstered in black and white fabric. A guest suite functions as a home office, utilizing custom millwork and a sofa bed to maximize utility.
Furniture and decor bridge the gap between sophistication and personal memory. The resident’s first home features new pieces from Breton and AVAA Design alongside family photographs and crystal trays. The kitchen creates a functional workspace with high-performance Gorenje appliances and ample storage, while the powder room offers drama with a Nero Madeira stone vanity and black linen wallpaper. From the “scenographic” entrance hall to the granilite-lined bathroom, the project prioritizes timeless materials and visual comfort to reflect the owner’s lifestyle.
