A Minimalist Apartment That Captures the Energy of Motion
Designed by Iva Hajková, Above the Horizon is a serene apartment in Prague that draws inspiration from the endless horizons of the sea. The design balances the movement and rhythm of sailing with calm, minimalist precision. Concrete ceilings and warm wood floors form the foundation, while soft shades of blue echo the sky and water outside. The space feels open, light, and grounded—an elegant retreat high above the city’s pace.
The living area is defined by a striking blue shelving wall, where simple shapes and delicate objects bring a quiet sense of personality. Sculptural white sofas create a soft contrast against the raw textures, while natural light fills the room through wide windows.
In the kitchen, blue cabinetry with matte black handles add contrast. A unique table extension seamlessly connects to the countertop, turning the workspace into a shared dining zone. The design blends practicality with subtle emotion, reflecting Hajková’s skill in turning minimalist architecture into a lived-in, personal story.
The compact toilet area hides an impressive smart storage system—tall wooden panels open to reveal deep, built-in shelving that keeps everything organized and out of sight while maintaining the apartment’s clean, minimalist look.
