As soon as winter forces autumn to leave, we get that holiday feel, we start to think about Christmas and New Year’s Eve and we can’t wait to start decorating our homes. Some of us choose to wait a little longer while others start decorating as soon as December comes. Here are some Scandinavian-inspired ideas that you could use or adapt.

There are different traditions in different regions or countries. There we can find a combination of vintage and sentimental decorations and beautiful nature-inspired ornaments. The Scandinavian decorations usually features neutral colors such as gray, light brown, pale blue, or white. Bright accents are also common such as red, blue, purple or green. Still, you can compare these decorations with those sparkly and colorful items we use to fill our homes with.

And here are some ideas for the New Year’s Eve as well. You could use some nice candles. They are known to create a warm, comfortable and charming décor. In Sweden white candles are often used and they have no artificial flavor. And since in that area the connection with nature is very strong, elements such as dead branches are also used during this season. They can be decorated and used inside our outside the house. Anyway, if you decide to go with a Nordic décor for the holidays, you’ll have to use a lot of white.{pics from russian site}
