A Prague Apartment Where Industrial Design Meets Calm Refinement
Designed by SMLXL Studio, this apartment in Prague’s Holešovice district overlooks the river and former industrial halls that inspired its character. Exposed concrete ceilings, an open layout, and floor-to-ceiling windows define a restrained, architectural rhythm that connects the interior to the city beyond.
The design centers on material honesty—black veneer, brushed stainless steel, travertine, and perforated sheet metal—combined in a precise, minimal composition. A sculptural kitchen island, built from two stainless-steel volumes, becomes the apartment’s focal point, expressing both function and quiet strength. Subtle industrial details, like the ribbed wall behind the television and the linear lighting system, reinforce order and continuity.
In the private areas, the palette softens. The bedroom blends concrete and textiles for a calm, tactile contrast, while warm wood flooring unites the space. Every detail serves a purpose, creating a home that reflects industrial clarity and balance, where material truth and the riverside view define a timeless sense of calm.
