DIY Simple Yarn Wrapped Hanging Planter

Transform a simple terra cotta planter into this fun and functional yarn wrapped hanging planter! I love the look of a plant cascading down from a hanging planter. I have these two hooks on my ceiling leftover from a hanging chandelier that looked so out of place. Once I hung a few plants from them, not only did the hooks look way better but the whole room felt like it got an instant upgrade. Plus, with the yarn wrapped hanging planter, you can easily customize what colors you want your yarn to be to match your room. I went with a nice neutral off-white and added some blue and green stripes to spice it up.

Taking your yarn, hold one end and press it to the bottom edge of the planter. Start to wrap it upwards around your planter, pressing it into the mod podge as you go.

Once you have covered the first ¼ you can add more mod podge and either continue with the same color yarn or change the color. I only added a little bit of mod podge at a time so it wouldn’t dry out before I could put the yarn on it.

Continue to wrap your yarn up your whole planter, changing colors when you please.

To make little tassels to add to the rim, wrap a small amount around two of your fingers about 3 times. Gently pull the the ball off of your fingers and tie it together with another piece of yarn. Cut one side of the loop so you get hanging tassels. To add the tassel to your planter, as you are wrapping the yarn around the planter thread the yarn through the tassel and press into the glue. Continue to thread more tassels onto your planter as you please.

Once your planter is covered in yarn, grab your glue gun. Taking a long piece of yarn, glue a vertical line inside your planter and then press the yarn into it. Do this 3 more times in a sort of square pattern. Tie the 4 end pieces of yarn together into a loop.
